HISTORY OF THE CLUB

May 1999 - A public meeting, sponsered by The Hills Computer Club, was held in the Wentworthville Community Centre to guage interest in a computer club for seniors being developed in the Wentworthville area.
A steering committee was formed to develop the fledgling club.

23rd June 1999 - First Public Meeting. At this time the club formed with a membership of twenty three (23) and so Computer Pals for Seniors Holroyd was born.

2001 - Holroyd Council approached the club early 2001 regarding a paternership to run a pilot program for the NSW Ageing and Disability Department (now known as The Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care). This program was to take the use of computers and IT technology out into the community, talkto senior groups, and to offer Holroyd residents a free introduction to computing. We came up with a concept, estimated the equipment required and with Holroyd Council submitted our idea. In mid 2001 the project was awarded a grant of $30,000.00 to be completed in 12 months. Microsoft supplied the software required to the value of $12,000.00.
